Harlem Jams!
Aiming to cultivate arts appreciation and
promote healthy lifestyles for the Harlem Heights Community, Harlem JAMS! an Arts and Fitness Program was developed by CJAM Consulting, LLC, Harlem Heights Improvement Association and Lee County Alliance for the Arts. The program consists of six-week sessions of after school, evening and weekend classes featuring dance, theater, multimedia and visual art.
Open Doors Arts Program
“Open Doors” is a program for students
aged 10-15 who are gifted in the arts, but who may not have the financial means to develop their talent. Students are referred by teachers and other professionals to participate. The class is designed for young people with exceptional ability in art and the drive to paint, draw and expand their vistas.
LARC Arts Co-op Program
The extracurricular arts co-op program gives disable adults a chance to discover their artist within. LARC is a United Way Partner Agency, since 1954 promoting and providing services for people with developmental disabilities to live and work in our communities. Working alongside the Alliance for the Arts, the designated arts agency in Lee County, enabled LARC to introduce an artistic element to the educational programming of the organization.
Opportunity Services Art Class
On a weekly basis the Alliance opens their classrooms to adults with disabilities offering
them a chance to get creative by drawing, painting, collage making and working with mixed media projects. Participants have have the opportunity to make their own artistic decisions and express themselves through their work.
"And The Award Goes To" Showcase fgtgtjtyjhyjherhwewewewwwmwmrh Hosted by the Alliance for the Arts, Rhythm in Motion & The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools
showcased "And The Award Goes To, " in the Foulds Theatre. Proceeds went directly to the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools Inc. and the local Dancing Classrooms Program. The evening included a Social Hour, a Silent Auction and Performances by Local Dance Professionals, Rhythm In Motion students & staff as well as the Dancing Classrooms teaching artists & local 5th grade students.
Dancing Classrooms uses a curriculum-based teaching approach to achieve social awareness and build self-esteem. Students are taught the vocabulary of various contemporary social dances in a classroom setting. Each class in the series introduces new steps, reinforcing what has been previously learned through practice and repetition.
