Event details

Did you know that much of the music written by Mozart and his contemporaries was made to be danced to? Come and learn how to stay fit the way Mozart did–through dances of his time. Participants will learn various 18th-century dances such as the Minuet and Gavotte, as well as some English Country Dance (the precursor to American Contra Dance). It’s a fun way to stay fit and a new way to appreciate classical music.

Affectionately known as The PhDiva because she is a classically trained soprano with a PhD from Harvard, Dr. April Lynn James is an expert in early music and dance. She studied with such luminaries in the field as Ken Pierce and Thomas Baird and recently relocated to Fort Myers. She is committed to sharing her skills in the performing, visual and literary arts in order to help individuals recover their innate joy and vitality.
