ArtPlay for Artists with Autism

ArtPlay camps and classes, in partnership with Family Initiative, are designed for students with with autism spectrum disorder to learn identity development, self-esteem and positive coping skills through visual arts, dance, acting, music and more!

PROGRAMS

ABOUT

Imagine, create and discover. Take an art class with us!

  • For ages 8 – 17
  • Registration includes art supplies
  • Pre-registration is required
  • Maximum class size is 12
  • Typically Thursdays 4:30-5:30pm
  • Students must:
    • Respond to verbal direction
    • Independently toilet
    • Not require one-on-one supervision.

ARTPLAY: DANCE

Come move with us! Dance classes are designed for students 8 – 18 and are will engage children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in movement and music.

ARTPLAY: YOGA

ArtPlay: Yoga is a safe, judgment-free and fun space for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder to grow and learn about themselves through movement and breath. Every week is a new theme with props to show how our breath works and crafts to let our creativity fly free!

ARTPLAY: MUSIC

Music classes are designed for students 8 – 18 and will engage children with Autism Spectrum Disorder with sound and music.

ARTPLAY: UKULELE

Music classes are designed for students 8 – 18 and will engage children with Autism Spectrum Disorder with sound and music. Students will discover how to maintain, tune and play songs on the ukulele.

ARTPLAY: VISUAL ARTS

Classes are designed for students 8-25 and focus on identity development, self-awareness, self-esteem, and positive coping skills. Instructed by an experienced artist with support from Board Certified Behavioral Specialists.

ARTPLAY: IMPROV & ACTING

Improv & Acting Classes are currently suspended due to Covid 19.

Youth Improv classes are designed for students 7-14.  Teen & Adult Improv classes are designed for students 15 – 25. Both focus on social communication, engagement with peers, and working together as a group. Improv and theatre games used in this class will teach students skills such as accessing emotions and storytelling. This will be done in a safe and fun setting where the students can explore and challenge themselves. Instructed by Leigh Shein with support from Board Certified Behavioral Specialists.
