ArtPoems is a collaboration of artists and poets, inspiring each other, to create new art and new poetry. 12 artists and 12 poets are paired and exchange art and poetry. An artist will create a work inspired by a poem and a poet will write a poem inspired by an artwork. In total 24 new creations result. ArtPoems culminates in a stage performance incorporating art, poetry, and music.

Here’s how ArtPoems works: Eleven artists and eleven poets get together at a meeting in the fall with five of his or her works of art or poems in hand. At the meeting, each poet draws an artist’s name and each artist draws a poet’s name to determine the 24 partnerships for the show. The result is 12 works of art that have been inspired by poems and 12 poems that have been inspired by artwork.
