In the Main Gallery: Daydreaming by the Fort Myers Beach Art Association

In the Theatre Lobby Gallery:  The Art of Memory: My Childhood Nostalgia by Victoria Webber

This series delves into the abstraction, unreliability, and absence of my memory through mixed-up, composite panels of my childhood, interspersed with flat, muted color field panels. These color field panels represent the gaps in my memory, caused by decades of incorrect medication. Childhood was a time before all of this, yet, I feel disconnected from the memories depicted. My memory was erased due to a misdiagnosis of Bipolar Disorder, and all the incorrect pharmaceuticals that ensued robbed me of my memories. My work delves into what memories feel like to me. In each memory I have, large pieces are missing, are abstracted, or are mixed up.

In the Member Gallery: Vibrant Portrait Collection by Sabrina Kovacs

Sabrina Kovacs is an acrylic painter that specializes in portraits. She was born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida, and is a graduate of Fort Myers High School and Florida Gulf Coast University. She is currently an elementary school art teacher in Immokalee, Florida. Sabrina enjoys educating children about art, painting and exploring new mediums, and spending time with her husband and two children.

Vibrant Portrait Collection is a group of colorful portraits created with acrylic paint. Some pieces include natural stones with Epoxy resin to emphasize texture and form. The works offer interpretations of individualism. The color combinations represent the beauty of diversity. Each color represents the human experience, good or bad, that makes us who we are. The series invites the viewer to reflect on the individual person and to consider whether some pieces of ourselves are pre-determined or simply a creation of our own making: fame, trauma, childhood, and life events and experiences.
