EASY-Breezy Color Theory (Ages 16+)

This color workshop is for anyone who is just starting to paint AND for those who want to improve their color theory.  Color theory can be applied to any medium or subject matter.  This workshop will break it down into easy and fun techniques to make those colors work for you!  We will cover the color wheel, easy recipes to find whatever color you are looking for, and the application of paint.  Instructor presentations and time to work on a final painting will be provided.

Supply list:

Paint – acrylic or oils

  • Alizarin crimson or magenta
  • Cadmium red (red orange in color – different brands may have in cadmium red light)
  • Thalo/pthalo blue or the one that says thalo blue (green shade)
  • Ultramarine blue or French ultramarine blue
  • Cadmium yellow light
  • Ivory black
  • Titanium white

Brushes:

  • Filbert or flat soft hair sizes 2, 4, 6 – using small to medium size brushes
  • Flat or filbert size 10

Surface:

  • Canvas paper 8×10 or 9×12
  • 9×12 canvas

Miscellaneous:

  • Water container and spray bottle if using acrylics
  • Odorless paint thinner and glass jar with lid if using oils
  • Paper towels
  • Palette (can be white paper plates or freezer paper)
