Family Art Labs (December 2019)

Make creativity part of your family routine the 4th Saturday of each month during Family Art Lab! Drop in for free, hands-on family fun from 10 a.m. to noon. Explore something new every month like art making, gallery activities, games and more – all inspired by artworks on view in the gallery, famous artists, national holidays and artistic traditions around the world. Come ready to imagine and create! After the fun, peruse local produce and products at our GreenMarket.

For this month’s project, students will learn the elements of making a successful work of abstract art inspired by artist Joan Miro. Guided by the instructor, young artists will follow guidelines and principles to each create a unique work of art. Using line, shapes, and whimsical imagination, young artists will learn about Miro’s process of Surrealist Fantasy. Students will see how with just one set of directions, everyone in the classroom will come up with very unique works of abstract art!

Recommended for ages five and older, but all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate.
