Armed Forces of Funny – A Summer Full of Funny
The Alliance for the Arts is proud to announce its 3 night summer comedy series of some seriously funny stand-up comedians!
The series begins on June 29 with LOLGBTQ, a showcase of some of the top LGBTQ comedians in the country.
On July 20, it is surefire laughs with The Armed Forces of Funny, a collection of some of the funniest comedians from military families across the country.
The run concludes on August 31 when Dan Christopher, renowned ventriloquist, brings his cast of wacky characters to team up with Mariannette LaPuppet for a “roll in the aisles” evening of fun.
The cost is $20 per show or $15 for Alliance members.

About the Armed Forces of Funny Line-Up
The Armed Forces of funny is a locked and loaded night of comedy featuring Brendan Jay, Brett James, Rudy Wilson and Duncan Jay.
Brendan currently serves as an active duty member of the US Navy in Doral, FL and is a featured stand-up comedian, celebrity impressionist and voice actor in South Florida. His military career spans ten years and three deployments to the Middle East. He is currently stationed at Headquarters US Southern Command in Doral, FL. He performed regularly at the World Famous Comedy Store in Hollywood, CA, the Comedy Palace in San Diego,CA. He’s a featured regular for Bonkerz Comedy Productions in Florida and the Open Stage Club in Coral Gables, FL. He is the 2018 winner of the Mizner Park Comedy Festival in Boca Raton, FL. The highlight of his comedy career came featuring for hundreds of service members for a USO show at Creech Air Force Base, NV.
Brett James was born to serve. A second generation Air Force Veteran, Brett retired as a Master Sergeant with 20 years spent in the enlisted ranks. On advice from friends and family, he took flight on a career in standup comedy in 2012 after returning home from a high-stress deployment to Yemen. His hilarious perspectives of both military and civilian life have contributed to delighting crowds all over the country. He is already a feature comedian in clubs across Mid-America, a known performer at many comedy festivals and often entertains U.S. servicemen and women across the globe. Most recently, he was awarded the title of “Oklahoma City’s Funniest Comedian for 2016.”
Rudy Wilson was born and raised in Atlanta, Ga. Rudy Joined the army in 2014 and got out in 2018 to pursue comedy full time and spent 3 years in Washington DC honing his craft. He is known for his ferocious crowd work and currently resides in South Florida where he is fast becoming a favorite act in the comedy scene.
Duncan Jay, originally from Alabama, Duncan Jay was a field artillery soldier stationed in Ft. Sill Oklahoma from 1994-1998. He spent a majority of his childhood in Florida, and a majority of his adulthood in New York City where the comedy bug finally bit him. A “southern” charmer with a hint of sarcasm and the wit of a street wise New Yorker, Duncan has performed in venues large and small…from Maine to Miami from Long Island to Idaho and places in between. A flexible comedian, he offers a clean act for kids and family friendly shows as well as the late night bar crowds.
