What a great time to be an Alliance Member! 

On August 10th from 10:30am pm – 12:00 pm, we are having our  next Photography Club meeting led by photographer and multi-faceted artist Duncan Metts.

Photography Prompt: “Think Small”

This month, I invite you to shift your perspective and focus on the tiny, often overlooked details that surround us every day. “Think Small” encourages you to explore the world through a magnified lens, capturing the beauty in the little things.

What to Look For:

• Tiny Subjects: Consider photographing insects, raindrops on a leaf, or the intricate details of a flower. Look for the small things that we usually pass by without a second thought.
• Miniature Worlds: Explore tiny landscapes, such as mossy patches on a rock, the textures of peeling paint, or the microcosms in a puddle.
• Hidden Corners: Seek out small, overlooked spaces in your environment. This could be the corner of a busy street, the space between buildings, or a forgotten alleyway.
• Close-Up Details: Experiment with macro photography or simply zoom in on textures, patterns, and details that are easily missed when we’re not paying attention.

Tips:

• Get Close: Whether you’re using a macro lens, a significant crop or your phone’s camera, getting close to your subject will help you capture its details and textures.
• Play with Focus: Try different focus techniques to highlight the small elements in your frame.
• Use Lighting Creatively: Soft lighting can reveal delicate details, while harsher lighting might bring out textures and contrasts in your subjects.
