The Art of Composition – Lecture (ages 14+)
This lecture workshop is for anyone who loves making art, learning about art, or just appreciating art! The lecture will cover the fundamental principles used to create visually striking art works. We will first begin by exploring how composition functions as a visual design by covering the elements of design and the principals of design proportion, movement, balance, and symmetry.
After attending this lecture you will be able to interpret works of art based on the principles of design, identify the many kinds of issues that artists examine in their work, and improve your paintings.
You can bring up to two pieces of your own work, finished or unfinished, for a group critique and discussion. This is a unique opportunity to get feedback on your composition. Intermediate to advanced students will get the most out of this lecture but beginners are welcome.
Supply list: None but you may bring up to two pieces of your own work for group critique and discussion.
