Event details

In this workshop, intended for beginning and intermediate watercolor artists, students will learn overall concepts for watercolors, the eight steps needed for design, basic and intermediate techniques, and complete a painting of their choice.  Instructor James Beech will work closely with beginners to explain, solve problems, and answer questions.  At the end of the day there will be a group critique of attendee’s work.  James will also give additional information such as good reference books; brushes, pallet, paints; gridding washes, blooms or cauliflowers; color wheel, grays, and values; light direction demo with a model; mingling, layering, lifting, and mud; razor blades, credit cards, sponges, pouring, and spraying.

Students should bring all materials ready to paint and professional quality paints, paper, and brushes are suggested.  Intermediate students may bring a recent painting they are working on and need help in completing.  Please also bring a reference photo to start a new painting.  If possible, it is suggested that students bring a new painting sketch already drawn on paper ready to paint.
